Blessings, Blessings Everywhere!

2 Corinthians 9:8-9
"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." As it is written: "They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever."

I have been blessed with the most generous people in my life.  I have received so much support this year.  I worried about money, time off from work, how I was going to communicate, and so many other things.  Worry steals your joy.  God provided for me through the generosity of others.

During this ordeal, my mortgage and car note was paid on time every month.  My lights stayed on. I have very few medical bills coming to my home because they were paid as they came in.  When I ran out of sick days at work, my colleagues donated days.  I received an email this week telling me that I was given 19.5 days this year and a day the last school year.  As teachers we are paid once a month.  My generous friends gave me essentially one month's pay.  I am so very grateful.  Most people, in one income homes, are one or two months away from total disaster if we are disabled or or unable to work.  My friends and colleagues provided for Megan and me financially.  He is so good.

This afternoon, I decided to take break from the soccer field and so I went to the Red Heron Cafe for something to eat.  I was sitting alone in a booth when Dr. Jeff Caldwell and Laura came in. They asked me to join them and I did.  Dr. Caldwell gave me my first job back in 1994.  I worked in his office for 5 years.  I learned so much from him and the opportunities he gave me to grow.  I was 16 years old when he hired me.  Dr. Jeff said a beautiful prayer over our meal and thanked God for the blessings He has given us this year.  We talked about our children, their grandchildren, and my experiences over the last 18 months.  We laughed and shared and I was blessed by their love.

What I experienced today with the Caldwells is not an isolated incident. It happens to me frequently. God blesses me all the time through the love and benevolence of others.  A friend told me recently that when I allow people to bless me, the blessing that they receive in the process is more than the gift.  I have always been a giver.  I am learning to step back and let the blessings flow in.  Be a blessing to someone today!
